Organic Products to Help Green Your Baby

Organic BabyI’ve recognized how hard the transition has been for me to introduce more organic products into my life and become more aware of the good vs. the bad.

When frustration overwhelms me I think about when I was little, how every thing I ate had the best taste ever and I never worried about trans-fats, inhaling chemicals that my mother cleaned with, refined sugars or the fabulous relationship I had with candy. Now, things have changed. I’m an adult and I’m aware of everything I consume.

This journey would have been a lot easier if my mother had started me on a more organic diet as a baby and I was in no way allowed to spend my quarters on Mike and Ike, Blow Pops and Soda. Everything went seriously down hill from there. McDonald’s was our treat when going into town, cue association, happy thoughts equal McDonald’s.

I see so many young children inhaling this stuff while completely oblivious, as children would be, to the havoc it is wreaking on their bodies. Fox News presented a story yesterday on young children preferring McDonald’s packaging vs. the same product in unbranded packaging. Was this story honestly just a pat on the back for the marketers at McDonald’s? Brainwashing children…check! Now what?

Let’s start with where one can find the right information on improving our babies health. How can we make sure that our children do not grow up on chemically processed foods and other toxic non-sense such as fabrics and toys? If we start them on the right path the rest is a snap. Here are a few sites I found to be most helpful. Keep in mind that when it comes to any diet changes for your baby be sure to notify your pediatrician.

  • Baby Cubes- A fine website dedicated to simplifying the life of a full time mom. You have your choice of USDA certified organic fruits and veggies that will come in frozen cubes. To prepare all you do is defrost and serve.
  • Wholesome Baby Food- If buying the cubes is not an attractive option than consider making your own. Wholesome baby is an awesome site about making your own food, storing it and listing what foods should be eaten at what age.
  • Terressentials- Their baby skin care line is the purest I have found yet. All ingredients are listed for you and certified USDA organic.
  • Crystal Baby Organics/Nature’s Crib- I decided to list two sites for the organic bedding and toys. Both sites are extremely helpful and do list their products as containing 100% organic wool/cotton and wooded furniture being toxin free. Although I did find that Nature’s Crib had a bit more info. For example, they have a page dedicated to parenting books, raising children organically and suggestions on greening your home.

These sites are your foot in the organic door, the more you know the more you can do and with that comes a healthier lifestyle for you and your baby!
