A Green Look Into Physicians Formula Organic Wear Makeup

Organic Wear

While paging through In Style magazine at work yesterday an article on different types of mascara caught my eye.  What caught my eye even more was the elfish design of the Organic Wear Mascara.

I loved it, next mission find the nearest Walgreens.  At first search it was no where to be found until I realized it was paired with the 100% Natural Origin Tinted Moisturizer.  Didn’t want the duo but really wanted to try the mascara.  The moisturizer  I’ve used twice now and although it spreads well and has a pleasant aroma it does contain Titanium Dioxide as does the mascara.

The Organic Wear line states their products are:

“100% Free of Harsh Chemicals. 100% Free of Synthetic Preservatives. 100% Free of Parabens. 100% Free of GMO’s. 100% Free of Synthetic Colors. 100% Free of Synthetic Fragrances. 100% Cruelty Free.”

I still have issues with Titanium Dioxide being OK.

The mascara is very easy on the eyes and I can honestly say I’ve had zero issues with running or flaking.   Another point to be made, the wand is 100% recyclable.  Ahhh, the eco-Gods have been appeased…almost.

Here’s what you can expect if your Organic Wear prouduct sports a nifty EcoCert stamp:

  • No pre-treatment used in any of the raw materials found in organic formulas
  • All suppliers must pass an extensive review before their raw materials are approved.
  • All manufacturing and packaging facilities undergo a rigorous inspection
  • All packaging must be recyclable.

I already own Organic Wear Loose Powder, the brush smells funny and is a tad rough on the skin.  I like a nice soft brush that feels like a bunnies ass.  If you have your own I would use it, brush that is.  By the end of the day (if not reapplied) the powder disappears.  The coverage is not ideal.  I’ll probably skip on buying this product again.  I can’t even entertain the thought of buying something else because this powder will last forever!!!!

I will definitely repurchase the mascara, not too crazy in love with the tinted moisturizer.  It feels like a foundation which I never ever like.  My face enjoys breathing.  I figure if I need coverage that bad I should clean up my diet and find out why my skin is rebelling against me.

All in all the mascara was a fine purchase; would I like to see a shorter ingredient list?  Yes, but I would also like to see a hot air ballon in the shape of  giant underwear.  Please feel free to share the “as organic as it can get” mascara that you’ve fallen in love with :)
